Getting Started
Tuesday, March 16, 2010 at 12:17AM Here are step by step instructions to getting all your models assembled, painted, and converted. This has been written so everything you need to do is on this page. This will detail and clarify exactly what you will be doing it; from getting a quote, getting your models to us, payments, shipping, and what we guarantee.
Getting a Quote
Just send us a list of what models, or terrain, you would like assembled, painted, and/or converted. Make sure to tell us if you are providing the models being painted and if they need to be assembled. Let us know if, and how, the models are primed. We will quickly send you a Project Breakdown via email outlining all costs. Based on this, you can add, amend, or eliminate items as you see fit. In the end, you’ll give us the OK and we'll get started creating and customizing your army.
What You Are Buying
We have photos all over our website at MiniPaintingAuthority.com.
All the models on our website were painted by M.P.A. We put up all our work on the website. We are proud to display our work. As you can see, we strive to deliver exceptionally painted models to our customers through our unique painting styles. If you like what you see in our Galleries, and we know you will, you will be more than satisfied with what you receive. We aim to exceed your highest expectations!
In addition, every model will be clear coated to protect its unique paint job. We want to ensure your models stay safe and unblemished for the life of the models.

M.P.A. knows prompt communication is key. We will continue to respond to all questions you have, and an update on the progress of your models can be supplied after you submit an order. Conversions Budget
Since the paint job on your models will be unique, we strongly recommend letting us convert your models to match the paint job, and the overall theme of your army. Owning converted models will give your army the extra push needed to ensure your army is exceptional and unrivaled.
The best way to guarantee that your army will stand out from the rest is to supply M.P.A. with a budget for your model's conversion work. This will allow us to get creative without asking for approval each time. Typically, clients will set up a $75-$150 budget for conversions for an army. The price you set is a maximum, we might not use all of it. The budget will cover the cost of the parts used and conversion work itself. We do not always charge for minor parts, like plastic shields; only unusual and/or metal parts.
Movement Trays
Warhammer Fantasy, and other various armies, utilize movement trays. M.P.A. hand-builds you custom trays painted to match the models and their bases in your army. The cost of custom trays is $10 each. Please specify the dimensions of the tray you want us to create for you (width x depth). There is a small fee of $5 for tray sizes larger then 7x5 models. The edging on the trays is 1/4" sloped.
Basing
The painters at M.P.A. create custom made resin bases. There will be pictures of our bases under the Bases Section that is under construction. Please let us know if you prefer our custom cast resin bases or the generic bases that come with your model kit.
For flying models, M.P.A. strongly recommends getting your models doweled at $2 each. This is a metal rod drilled into the model and a reinforced cast resin base. This replaces the typical clear plastic rod and base that normally comes with a flying model kit.
Purchasing the Models
There are 2 different options for you to choose from on how M.P.A. gets the models you want us to paint.
1) Buy your own models and ship them to M.P.A.
2) Have M.P.A. buy the models
If you buy your own models you will be responsible for the costs of shipping them to us. We also accept models shipped directly from a retailer.
If you are sending your models, you will get an email of confirmation of receipt within two business days. We do a rough inventory of the models. It is advised (but not necessary) to send an invoice detailing the contents of your package.
OR
THE BEST METHOD!!!!!
Have M.P.A. buy the models for you!!! The easiest method to get models to M.P.A. is by DOING NOTHING!!! AND SAVING 15%!!!
That's correct! Have M.P.A. buy your products and save 15%! There is no extra charge for having M.P.A. buy your models. You just save 15%!
Models that are uncommon, from overseas, and exclusive sources or mail order, are not 15% off. We charge sales tax where applicable. This is by far the fastest and least expensive way of getting the models you want looking fantastic. Simply, send us an email of the models and products you want, and the finished product will appear at your doorstep.
If we are purchasing the models we ask for the cost of the models in addition to half down for the commission to secure your order.
Assembly
There are 2 different options for you to choose from on how the models arrive at M.P.A.
A) Assemble the models yourself
B) Have M.P.A. assemble the models
If you assemble the models yourself, be sure you are satisfied with how they look. We'll do a few minor touch-ups, but if the whole army is poorly cleaned up, we'll paint over it or apply a minor charge to clean up each model ($0.25 to $0.75 generally). This also applies to models that arrive broken.
OR
If you would like us to assemble your models, there is a small charge for this ($1.25-1.75 for simple infantry, $2 for plastic kits or multi-part infantry, and $4 to $15 for complex kits). Flashing and mould lines are removed, gaps are filled, and joints are pinned where needed.
Bitz
For Forge World and Bitz orders that we make for your army, we will ask for reimbursement of shipping charges. We charge a bit more for these orders. This is to cover the administrative costs involved. If you want to save more money, you can order it directly from the source and have it sent to our company.
For bitz we recommend www.battlewagonbits.com
Getting To Work
Before we begin construting your army, M.P.A. requires the cost of materials and half the total cost of assembly/painting as a down payment. This will show up on the bottom of the Project Breakdown spreadsheet.
If you are sending us your models, we'll need up to ship everything to us two weeks before the scheduled start of the project. This will allow us to get the prep work done. It also takes a week or so for M.P.A. to acquire the models we are buying for you.
Project Done!
After we have completed your successful project, we will take pictures to send to you. Depending on the amount of models, an army can get anywhere between 20-50 pictures taken. Before your models are shipped out, M.P.A. will send you an email with pictures of your completed models. This will allow you to see the magnificence of your army. You may reply to the email with a request for alteration.
In your final Paypal payment, please send instructions regarding shipping. Anything not in the "Notes" section of the final Paypal payment might be overlooked.
If models are not paid for within thirty days of completion, 40% of the deposit (assembly and painting) is not refunded. That means if you paid $100 for your deposit, only $60 would come back. There are 30 days maximum for your payment to be received or the penalties above are applied..
For a large project ($200+) there might be a delay of refund until another buyer is found.
Payment
The easiest form of payment is through PayPal. This is also the fastest and most secure of payment. You can pay with a credit card through Paypal at www.paypal.com. Setting this up is as easy and safe as any credit card checkout on a typical website.
We also accept payments through Money Order and Cashier's Check. For Money Orders and Cashier's Checks, please be sure to send it in a hard envelope. It's also a good idea to get some kind of delivery confirmation or tracking number, but it is not necessary.
If you send a Money Order or a Cashier's Check within the contents of your army, make sure it is in a large and/or brightly marked envelope on the top of the package. You will get an email confirmation upon receipt of a Money Order or Cashier's Check. If you get a confirmation of receipt for the models, but not for the payment, please contact us right away.
M.P.A. needs to have the full payment before models are shipped back. This includes shipping costs.
